In the Kerch Strait, a Russian ship providing security for the Crimean bridge area was hit. The results of the strike are still being verified.
As Censor.NET reports, the speaker of the Navy of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Dmytro Pletenchuk stated this on the air of "We-Ukraine".
"This is a ship of the third rank, quite a serious ship. The Coast Guard of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation used it. And, of course, their task in this situation is, in particular, to protect the water area around the so-called Crimean Bridge. This water area has long been in our area of attention, and we have also been destroying boats there, because the Kerch Strait is actually closed by Ukraine. Russian border guards are there illegally. So yes, the ship is important for the Russians to fulfill their tasks, as well as, in principle, any units, but it is more than ordinary boats. And in case of its loss, of course, they will be forced to look for some other means of patrolling," Pletenchuk said.
The speaker said Russia cannot leave the Crimean bridge unguarded because of previous successful attacks by Ukraine.
"They cannot afford to leave the bridge alone with us, you and I have already seen precedents," Pletenchuk noted.
He added that patrolling involves constant monitoring of the surface situation and identification of potential threats.
What preceded?
On the night of June 4, the Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had an extremely productive night, conducting massive and precise strikes on vital military and logistical facilities of the Russian occupiers in their operational depth.
The biggest trophy of the night was a Russian border Svetlyak-class patrol ship (Project 10410), which was located near the village of Yurkino in occupied Crimea.
This 49.5-meter-long ship with a crew of 28 people was carrying out tasks to control ports and create a tactical air defense and anti-submarine defense line.
