A Blow To Wildberries: Unexpected Consequences For Russia Revealed

The Russian economy is "shrinking" faster than expected.

The impact of the attacks on Wildberries’ logistics centers on the Russian economy could turn out to be significantly more severe than the $1.2 billion in lost goods reported by the company alone.

This opinion was expressed by OSINT researcher Chris O’Vicky. According to his estimates, Wildberries controls about 45% of the Russian online retail market, and together with Ozon—up to 77%—thereby occupying a key niche in the country’s retail sector.

The analyst believes that damage to major logistics hubs could lead to serious problems for a large number of businesses in the aggressor country, since restoring such facilities takes a long time. As an example, he cites a warehouse near St. Petersburg that took about a year and a half to rebuild after a major fire.

In addition, O’Viki claims that Wildberries’ warehouses were used by Russian volunteers to deliver military-grade goods. These included drones, spare parts, night-vision devices, generators, tactical gear, equipment, and other items. In his view, this means that strikes on such facilities could complicate the supply of the Russian military.

Earlier, the website Charter97.org reported that following a fire at the Wildberries warehouse, Russian sellers were refused compensation.
