The President of Ukraine reported on the results of three operations carried out by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Ukraine’s positions on the front lines in 2026 remain the strongest they have been during this prolonged period of full-scale war. This was stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an evening address following a report by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapaty.
According to the president, the Ukrainian military carried out three landmark operations. During the first operation, the Airborne Assault Forces liberated more than 800 square kilometers of territory.
The second was Operation “Vivaldi” in the Donetsk region, during which the Ukrainian military liberated more than 200 square kilometers.
The third operation is “Veles,” conducted by the “Charter” Brigade in the Kupiansk sector. The President of Ukraine stated that the Russians attempted to use underground gas pipelines to advance around Ukrainian positions, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) turned this tactic against the occupiers.
The situation on the front lines directly affects Ukraine’s negotiating position. The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ successful operations limit Moscow’s territorial gains and cast doubt on its strategy of achieving military objectives by wearing down Ukraine.
Zelenskyy noted that stronger positions on the front lines could provide Ukraine with significantly better conditions for diplomatic negotiations if its partners had supplied the necessary air defense systems in a timely manner.
“If support for Ukraine from our partners had remained just as strong—in particular, regarding our ‘Patriots’ and other air defense systems—then Ukraine would be in a completely different position, including diplomatically—in a significantly better position,” said the President of Ukraine.
He added that there are currently significant restrictions on deliveries, and aid packages including air defense systems have been postponed. And this is despite the fact that in just two weeks, Russia launched more than 100 ballistic missiles at Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
