Telegraph: Britain And Germany Will Secretly Develop A Long-Range Missile

The United Kingdom and Germany have agreed to collaborate on a secret program to develop long-range missiles that could be used in the event of a potential war with Russia. This was reported by The Telegraph citing its own sources.
The weapon is planned to be developed as part of the Deep Precision Strike (DPS) project. According to the sources, London and Berlin intend to create a missile with a range of over 2,000 kilometers. It should be capable of destroying key targets behind enemy lines—in particular, logistics hubs and infrastructure supporting the Russian military.
The new missile is scheduled to be completed by 2034. At the same time, the British side wants the program to move from political agreements to the active development phase as early as 2027.
According to sources, the project involves a combination of German funding and British expertise in the production of precision-guided weapons.
Two possible missile designs are currently under consideration. One option is a low-altitude cruise missile capable of evading air defense systems. The other is a hypersonic weapon capable of traveling at speeds exceeding Mach 5.
At the same time, some military experts have criticized the program’s timeline, deeming it excessively prolonged. Ben Hodges, former commander of U.S. Army Europe, called the ten-year development cycle “absurd,” emphasizing that Ukraine already has drones capable of traveling about 2,000 kilometers and carrying a significant payload.
Officially, the Deep Precision Strike project, costing more than $40 billion, was presented as a British initiative involving 12 allied nations during the NATO summit in Ankara in July 2026. However, it was not reported at the time that the program involved the development of weapons intended to counter Russia.
Germany is expected to become one of the main participants in this defense program.
On July 16, Bloomberg reported, citing sources, that London had signed agreements with several defense companies to develop the first British ballistic missile in more than half a century. The project is intended to assist Ukraine in its war against Russia and to reduce Europe’s dependence on American weapons.
