Admission Scores For Humanities Programs Have Risen At BSU

The rector announced the final figures.

Belarusian State University has seen an increase in the minimum admission scores for certain majors in the natural sciences and humanities. This was reported by the university’s rector, Andrei Korol, reported the BSU press service.

Korol announced the final enrollment figures for state-funded spots at nine BSU faculties: Biology, History, Sociocultural Communications, Journalism, Philosophy and Social Sciences (FFSN), Philology, Chemistry, Military Studies, and the A.D. Sakharov Institute of Geophysics and Engineering.

According to the rector, compared to last year, the cutoff scores for certain majors in the natural sciences and humanities have risen by more than 30 points. For example, majors in the Faculty of History are very popular.

“We are seeing consistently high interest from motivated applicants in the Faculties of Biology and Chemistry. The cutoff scores for their “Biotechnology” and “Medicinal Chemistry” programs rose this year to 374 and 372, respectively,” Korol said.

Among the top programs are “Social Communications” and “Psychology” at the Faculty of Philosophy, Social Sciences, and Humanities, with cutoff scores of 389 and 377, respectively; “Information and Communication” at the Faculty of Journalism—374.


Andrei Korol also drew attention to the high cutoff scores for the Military Faculty at BSU. For example, the “International Relations (specialization: International Relations in the Military Sphere)” program has a cutoff score of 376 this year, compared to 338 last year.
