A Factory In Russia That Manufactures X-101 And "Tor" Missiles Is On Fire

On July 24 in Kirov, Russia, according to reports from monitoring channels, a missile strike was launched against the Aviatek plant—a facility belonging to the Russian aviation and defense industry. Following the attack, a fire broke out on the factory grounds, and thick black smoke rose above the plant.

The first reports of a missile strike in Kirov appeared around 7:05 a.m. Just a few minutes later, observers reported that, according to preliminary data, the strike had hit the “Aviatek” facility, and later published photos and videos of the aftermath.

According to Exilenova+, the rocket likely struck one of the plant’s central buildings. Black smoke rose above the facility, and later a monitoring channel reported that the fire was still burning. It was also noted that dozens of ambulances were dispatched to the scene.

"Aviatek" specializes in the production of aviation equipment and products for the Russian defense industry. The company manufactures anti-aircraft guided missiles, target missiles, ejection seats, and aviation systems. The plant participates in the production of the “Tor” air defense missile system and the Kh-101 and Kh-59M2/Kh-59M2A missiles, supplying components for their engines.

In addition, the plant manufactures, repairs, and modernizes K-36DM ejection seats for the Su-34 and Su-57 fighter jets. The plant is subject to sanctions imposed by several countries.

According to Exilenova+, it appears that no evacuation of workers took place, though there is no official confirmation of this. The latest published footage shows that the facility continued to burn after the strike.
