Trump's Special Envoys Are Heading To Ukraine

Special Envoys of the U.S. President Steve Whitcoff and Jared Kushner, with whom Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has held repeated talks, may visit Kyiv in the second half of August as part of events marking the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence. This was reported by a correspondent for “Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty” correspondent in Washington, Alex Raufoglu, citing two sources familiar with the plans for such a visit.

It is important to note that U.S. media outlets reported on preparations for such a visit following closed-door talks between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy on July 28 at the White House.

The visit may take place against the backdrop of the Senate’s consideration of a bill on new sanctions against Russia and Iran, which was championed by the late Senator Lindsey Graham and named in his honor after his death.

It is worth noting that the bill grants the U.S. president the authority to impose tariffs of up to 100% on the five largest importers of Russian oil and gas. After the Senate, the bill must be approved by the House of Representatives, which will be on summer recess until early September.
