Due to the explosion of a combat drone on its territory.

Moldova is recalling its ambassador to Russia “for consultations” following an incident involving a combat drone, which crashed and exploded on August 9 near the village of Krokmaz in the Ștefan Vodă district.

The Moldovan Foreign Ministry “strongly condemned” the incident.

“This incident constitutes a gross violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova and has jeopardized the safety of our citizens. The Republic of Moldova condemns the Russian Federation’s war of aggression against Ukraine and its consequences for the security of our country and the entire region,” reads a statement from Moldova’s Foreign Ministry.

In light of this, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to recall its ambassador “for consultations.”

As a reminder, on the afternoon of August 9, the police in Ștefan Voda received a report of a powerful explosion near the village of Krokmaz. Shortly thereafter, fragments of a combat drone were discovered at the scene.
