Poland Introduces SMS Alerts In Response To Russia's Attacks On Ukraine

Citizens will be kept informed about the operations of the combat aviation units.

Polish citizens will receive text messages when the country’s fighter jets take off. This will occur during Russian attacks on Ukraine.

This was reported by RMF24 citing a statement by Poland’s Deputy Minister of Defense Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czernecka.

On July 30, during a massive Russian strike on western Ukraine, a cruise missile entered Polish airspace. The military response system reacted appropriately, says an official.

However, the civilian warning system did not function during the incident. Therefore, work is currently underway to improve it.

Today, according to Sobkowiak-Czernecka, the Government Security Center and the Ministry of the Interior are drawing conclusions from this experience.

The General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces and the Armed Forces Operational Command are participating in discussions with the Government Security Council. The goal, she noted, is to “further secure the entire system.”

Sobkowiak-Czernecka stated that citizens will now also receive SMS alerts about dangerous situations still occurring within Ukraine.

“If our troops come under attack, we will provide even more information using the Government Security Center’s system,” she said.
