A dictator could easily solve the demographic problem.

Once again, the authorities have turned their attention to demographic issues. New proposals and ideas are being put forward. But how many have there been before? Yet nothing has changed, writes “Solidarnast”.

Ungrateful Belarusians don’t want to have children in a state that forces them to wear gym shirts and peaked caps starting in kindergarten.

In a country where children’s childhoods are stolen from them at an early age, turning them into “patriots” and cannon fodder—all while those at the very top call for showing no mercy to children’s psyches by subjecting them to horrific images of a war that ended over 80 years ago.

In a country ruled for the fourth decade by a man who is not only incapable of envisioning a clear picture of the future but is stubbornly dragging the country back into a grim past.

Belarusians do not want to have children whom the state stubbornly refuses to see as individuals, but only as a future, disenfranchised labor force.

Solving the problem or significantly improving the situation is possible; it requires a simple, one-step action—just like in that joke about the clumsy doctor: “The patient needs medical care. And the farther the doctor goes, the better for the patient.”

Lukashenko needs to step down; millions of Belarusians told him this six years ago. But, as we can see, power is more important to him than the future of our country.
