"Let's Destroy All Of Russia's Ballistic Missiles"

Zelenskyy explained how much the Patriot systems will help Ukraine weather the winter.

Ukraine needs only one-tenth of the interceptor missiles it urgently requires from the United States to counter massive attacks by Russian ballistic missiles.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spends time every day speaking by phone with the leaders of allied countries to secure additional weapons. The leader made this statement in an interview with CNN.

In recent weeks, Russia has intensified its massive attacks on Ukrainian cities, particularly the capital, while Kyiv’s stockpile of interceptors is virtually zero. Zelenskyy noted that one-tenth of the U.S.’s current stockpile would be enough to stop all Russian ballistic missile attacks. And just five percent would be enough for Ukraine to survive the winter.

“This year, we have two and a half times fewer interceptors than we had in 2025,” the Ukrainian president said in an interview with CNN.

Meanwhile, he said, Russia is launching twice as many ballistic missiles each month as it did before.

Zelenskyy noted that if the U.S. “sells us 5%, we’ll get through the winter and save people’s lives. If they can sell us 10%, we’ll destroy all Russian ballistic missiles. I have 1%.”

“This is what I live with every day: from 1% to 5%. I have a few months and millions of phone calls… I’m trying to trade something for missiles… I’m doing some things I can’t even talk about. That doesn’t mean it’s illegal. But I can’t talk about it,” the Ukrainian president told reporters.

According to him, another issue concerning the defense of Ukrainian airspace remains unresolved. There are still doubts about how U.S. President Donald Trump’s apparent promise to allow Ukraine to independently produce American Patriot interceptor missiles will be implemented. However, officials in Kyiv hope that this will ultimately be achieved.

“Right now, I don’t even have 5%, and I don’t have that kind of support. And for me, this is a major challenge—one of the biggest I’ve faced since the very beginning of this war,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

“We need the American side to participate more actively in implementing the peace plan. I am grateful to President Trump’s team for their willingness to continue. The problem remains that the Kremlin continues to talk about territories. However, there are no guarantees that, after a significant hiatus, Russia will not invade Ukrainian territory again “with 1 or 2 million additional soldiers.”

Zelenskyy also noted that he agrees with some forecasts by Western analysts who warn that Russia may attempt to attack a NATO country.
