The defense forces are conducting an operation on one section of the front line; the results will be known by the end of August. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a conversation with journalists, according to New Voice.
The president also noted that by 2026, there is a possibility that Ukraine will achieve an equal balance between temporarily occupied and liberated Ukrainian territories.
“In addition, we are currently conducting another operation in a different sector of the front. The results will be in by the end of August. We believe that by 2026, the number of kilometers of Ukrainian territory temporarily occupied by the Russians will equal the number of kilometers we have liberated,” he said.
Zelenskyy added that the Defense Forces are continuing to de-occupy territories, and this trend is expected to continue.
“Currently, 990 square kilometers have been occupied since the beginning of the year, and we have regained control of 820 square kilometers. But by the end of 2026, we’ll reach a balance in terms of the number of kilometers. In other words, our Defense Forces are reclaiming Ukrainian lands—this is very important, and this balance carries significant weight for us both politically and diplomatically,” Zelenskyy noted.
As a reminder, on August 12, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that From January 29 through August of this year, the Defense Forces liberated an area of 745 km², bringing 26 villages in the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions back under Ukrainian control.
