Ukraine's Independence Day Was Celebrated In Grand Style In Warsaw

A large-scale rally was held on Zamkova Square under the slogan “Independence. Ours Together.”
On August 24, a large-scale celebration of Ukraine’s Independence Day took place in Warsaw, bringing together Ukrainians, Belarusians, Poles, and friends of Ukraine at Castle Square, according to Charter97.org.
The celebration of Ukraine’s Independence Day was organized by the “Euromaidan-Warsaw” civic initiative and the Stand With Ukraine Foundation. The event took place under the patronage of the Mayor of Warsaw and the Embassy of Ukraine in Poland.
Participants observed a minute of silence in memory of those who died as a result of Russian aggression and expressed their gratitude to the Ukrainian military personnel defending Ukraine.
The celebration was attended by Poland’s Minister of Justice Waldemar Żurek, Poland’s Deputy Minister of Education and Science Andrzej Sheptytsky, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Bodnar, renowned actor Andrzej Severin, famous musician Krzysztof Zalevski, nun Małgorzata Khmelevskaya, Sejm Deputy Dorota Loboda, as well as Polish and Belarusian activists and volunteers.
The concert in downtown Warsaw featured popular Polish singer Krzysztof Zalevsky, who was also celebrating his birthday that day. He expressed his gratitude for the invitation to share Independence Day with the Ukrainians and wished Ukraine victory.
Stand with Ukraine Awards
In Warsaw, the Ukrainian community presented a special award for the fourth time to Polish women and men who stood shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine.
This year’s recipients were:
the coordinator of the Poland Helps Ukraine Foundation, which has provided over 40 million zlotys in aid to Ukrainians, Jerzy Jurczyński;
a nun and social activist, director of the “Bread of Life” Community House Foundation Małgorzata Chmielewska;
former deputy editor-in-chief of Gazeta Wyborcza, founder of the Ukrainian-Polish magazine Sestry.eu Jerzy Wujczyk;
Philanthropist Dominika Kulczyk (the award was accepted by Kulczyk Foundation board member Aleksander Broda);
Polish social activist, columnist, journalist, and researcher of Ukrainian-Polish relations Bogumila Berdychowska;
