Ukrainian Drones Have Successfully Dealt The Final Blow To The Afip Refinery

One of the largest oil refineries in southern Russia has been struck for the fifth time since the beginning of the year.

On the night of August 25, the Krasnodar Region came under massive attack by unmanned aerial vehicles. One of the main targets was the Afip Oil Refinery.

Around midnight, a series of loud explosions rang out near the facility, after which a fire broke out on the refinery grounds. This was reported by the monitoring Telegram channel Exilenova+.

According to local residents, explosions were heard in the industrial zone shortly after an air raid alert was issued in the region. Eyewitnesses observed a glow following the arrival of drones. Thick smoke rising above the facility was also reported.

Representatives of the regional emergency response headquarters stated that emergency services are working at the scene. Information regarding the extent of damage to the industrial facilities and whether any employees were injured is currently being verified.

The governor of Krasnodar Krai Veniamin Kondratyev also reported that at least 10 private homes were damaged in the village of Afipsky. In addition, the official confirmed that a fire broke out at an oil refinery.

The Afipsk Oil Refinery is one of the largest oil refining facilities in southern Russia, with a design capacity of over 6 million metric tons of crude oil per year. The plant specializes in the production of gasoline, diesel fuel, and fuel oil.

The facility accounts for approximately 2.1% of the total oil refining volume in the entire Russian Federation. Each year, the refinery produces more than 2 million metric tons of diesel fuel, about 1 million metric tons of vacuum gas oil, as well as significant volumes of fuel oil and gasoline.

The plant is located in the Krasnodar Krai, in close proximity to the Black Sea ports and the occupied Crimean Peninsula. This location makes it a crucial logistical hub for the uninterrupted supply of Russian occupation forces.

Prior to this, drones had attacked the refinery four times since the beginning of the year: July 14, June 11, March 14, and January 21. The strikes caused fires, including one at the refinery’s tank farm.
