Because of a lack of seriousness toward Putin.
Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal, , co-author of a bill imposing sanctions on Russia , believes that U.S. President’s special representatives Steve Whitecoff and Jared Kushner should “take Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin more seriously.”
He made this statement during a conversation with journalists in Kyiv, according to a correspondent for “European Truth”.
Blumenthal believes that, at this point, Trump’s mediators “have proven to be rather ineffective with regard to Ukraine.”
“I believe they need to take Putin more seriously and demonstrate unwavering and consistent support for Ukraine,” he said.
According to him, Whitcoff and Kushner “too often gave the impression that the United States was ready to make concessions that would be disadvantageous to Ukraine.”
“And showing weakness is the last thing you should do toward an aggressor. Because, as we’ve already seen, he’ll simply exert even greater pressure,” the U.S. senator added.
On August 24, it was reported that the long-awaited visit to Ukraine by U.S. President’s Special Envoys Whitcroft and Kushner had been postponed.
