Trump Renamed Lake Ontario

The lake is located on the border between Canada and the United States.

U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order renaming Lake Ontario “Lake America.” He signed the document at the White House in the presence of journalists. The White House is broadcasting the event.

Trump stated that the new name takes effect immediately. One of the reporters asked the president what message to Canada he wanted to send by renaming the lake. “None,” Trump replied.

Lake Ontario is one of the five Great Lakes of North America, located on the border between Canada and the United States. It is the easternmost and smallest of the Great Lakes: it covers an area of about 19,000 square kilometers, with an average depth of 86 meters and a maximum depth of about 244 meters.
