Former U.S. Presidential Special Representative for Ukraine, General Keith Kellogg, spoke in an interview with journalist Ramina Eskhakhzai about negotiations with Lukashenko in 2025.

— You participated in negotiations with Alexander Lukashenko. It was reported that the Belarusian dictator did not expect you to speak to him so harshly. What exactly did you say to Lukashenko? How do you assess that meeting now?

— When we spoke with Lukashenko, the main goal was to open another channel of communication, because we know that Lukashenko speaks with Putin. So we decided that if we could convey messages this way, we would try. At the same time, we managed to secure the release of some political prisoners. Not many, but we succeeded. And I think that was important. We got them released. But the main reason we spoke with Lukashenko was to convey messages so that Putin would get the right message.

It’s worth noting that after Kit Kellogg’s meeting with Lukashenko, 14 Belarusian political prisoners were released.
