Residents of a neighboring country are being discouraged from moving to Belarus.
What’s more, it’s not just Belarusians who are doing this, but also many Russians. “My mother-in-law brought up the idea of emigrating to Belarus, — writes valery_garsiya on Threads. — I’m sitting here thinking about it. Has anyone here moved there? What’s it like for you? Especially for doctors in general and gynecologists in particular. Or is it not much different from Russia?”
It wasn’t just Belarusians who reacted to the post. The website Charter97.org shares some of the comments:
— Nobody needs you here. Let me tell you right away: if you work at a government institution, you’ll be working like a dog and getting paid peanuts, while housing prices are skyrocketing because of all you newcomers who showed up when things got tough. You’re better off looking for other options.
— I moved here from St. Petersburg. It’s very different from Russia here; the people here follow the rules and respect one another. If you want to do the same—come on over; if not, you won’t be welcome here.
— Why not go to the “liberated” territories?
— You’re not wanted here, despite your knowledge.
— It surprises me to read such hostile comments from Belarusians. From other countries—at least there was an excuse: part of their land was occupied. But what’s the deal here?
— Belarusians stopped loving Russians a long time ago—forget it.
— I like Bakhmut and Mariupol just as much as Minsk. If I were you, I’d stay home. Even the walls of your home can offer protection, you know.
