Is Lukashenko Starting To Show Signs Of Senile Dementia?

The dictator's decrees are getting more and more "miraculous."
In the Grodno region, there are plans to draft several dozen workers who performed poorly during the harvest into the army. This was reported by the chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee Yuri Karaev.
According to Karaev, those fit for military service may be deployed closer to Belarus’s southern border, as Alexander Lukashenko had previously demanded. Others are planned to be deployed to engineering units to perform defense-related work—moving railroad ties, digging, laying tracks, or building roads.
As a reminder, Lukashenko ordered that those who perform poorly and fail to observe labor discipline in agriculture be sent to the army.
“Well, with a labor shortage, are we going to put handcuffs on them? Ask Khrenin (Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin. — Ed.), pass on my instructions to him: anyone who doesn’t know how to work—off to the army and to the southern border. Into the forest. Our guys there—the special operations forces—are deployed along the Ukrainian border on my orders. This doesn’t mean we’re [planning to] attack anyone. We’re not attacking anyone; we’re ensuring our own security. It’s not easy—mosquitoes, flies, gnats, and so on. Send them there—to the army. As regular soldiers. A week of training (grenade launcher, machine gun), and then off—to serve under the special operations forces,” the dictator declared on July 21.
Lukashenko’s madness is escalating
Political analyst Valery Karbalevich believes that over the years, the ruler has become increasingly detached from reality:
“Many ideas raise questions: Why build another nuclear power plant or power unit if the country has a surplus of electricity? Why build a refrigerator factory if Minsk-based ‘Atlant’ doesn’t know what to do with its products? Why build a pulp and paper mill in the Vitebsk region if the Svetlogorsk Pulp and Paper Mill is operating at a loss and lacks sufficient and stable markets?
Time and again, he returns to the same issues (mismanagement at agricultural enterprises, calves dying), the fate of the same enterprises (“Kamvol”), and issues orders to fix everything, but nothing has changed for decades. Lukashenko convenes new meetings, issues the same orders, and gets the same results—zero. It would seem that he should pause and consider why this isn’t working. But no. He attributes the failures to poor discipline.”
At the absurdity of Lukashenko’s idea is pointed out by economist Andrei Makhovsky:
“Just appreciate the beauty of the game. Farmers—into the army. Soldiers—into the fields. Peasants who don’t want to work hard—we’ll swap them for people who, in principle, don’t want to work at all.
And most importantly, everyone’s busy. Officials, the army, the police—everyone’s bustling about. Lists are being drawn up, all labor and non-labor resources are being redeployed, reports are being written, and bonuses are being awarded. Isn’t that just wonderful!
True, when it turns out that something went wrong with the harvest or military training because of these “brilliant” reshuffles, it won’t be the person who came up with the idea who’s held accountable.
Those who put the idea into practice will be held accountable, because the person who came up with the idea isn’t used to taking responsibility for anything. All he knows how to do is look for someone to blame.”
