An explosion occurred at the restaurant on the evening of August 1.

The funeral of a major general—who is believed to have been killed in the explosion at the Balzi Rossi restaurant—took place at the Troekurovsky Cemetery in Moscow amid tight security, according to “VChK-OGPU.” According to the channel, the ceremony took place under heightened security measures: Federal Security Service (FSB) officers were on duty at the cemetery from early morning, several buses carrying Rosgvardia troops arrived on the premises, access was blocked, and vehicles were searched by traffic police and plainclothes officers. Drivers and visitors were screened through metal detectors. The procession was accompanied by an honor guard carrying the Air and Space Forces flag; however, the Army flag was raised at the prepared grave.

According to eyewitnesses, a “fairly young” major general was buried. Among those present, as claimed by “VChK-OGPU,” there was speculation that the deceased may have been a friend of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces, General Alexander Chaiko, and had attended his 55th birthday celebration at the Balzi Rossi restaurant. However, the channel emphasizes that there is no official confirmation of this information yet.

The explosion at the Balzi Rossi restaurant occurred on the evening of August 1. Initially, a gas leak was cited as the cause, but later the National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC) reported that an explosive device had detonated inside the restaurant, which a woman had attempted to smuggle in disguised as a gift. Five people were killed, and at least 19 others were injured.

The alleged target of the attack may have been General Chaiko himself, whom Ukrainian authorities accuse of involvement in crimes in Bucha. His condition following the incident remains unknown; however, his son-in-law was killed in the explosion, and his 25-year-old daughter, Maria Chaiko, may have been injured.
