Saudi Arabia Suspects Iran Of Planning An Attack

Saudi Arabian authorities have received “reliable intelligence” indicating that Iranian-backed armed groups and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) are preparing attacks against the country. This was reported by Al Arabiya English reported this, citing a high-ranking source in the kingdom.

According to the source, intelligence has information about coordination between the Yemeni Houthis, Iraqi militias, and the IRGC. The source stated that potential targets could include energy facilities and critical infrastructure, including airports and ports.

The Saudi side also reported the movement of missiles and drones that could be used for potential simultaneous strikes. Riyadh declared its readiness to take measures in response to any aggression.

At the same time, Saudi Arabian authorities emphasized that coordination with the U.S., including between military departments, remains “very strong.”

Earlier in August, the WSJ reported that Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, had convinced U.S. President Donald Trump to abandon new strikes against Iran and begin negotiations. According to the publication, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman urged Trump to choose the diplomatic path to avoid an escalation of the conflict. Meanwhile, the UAE advocated for tougher measures against Tehran.

U.S. allies in the region also requested additional air defense capabilities and security guarantees from Washington amid fears of a protracted conflict.
