Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is calling on allies to provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with at least 100–120 missiles each month to intercept Russian ballistic missiles.
This was reported by DW.
The head of state reminded his partners that Russia is currently capable of producing 140 ballistic missiles per month.
According to NATO regulations, to neutralize that number of ballistic missiles, 280 interceptor missiles are required—at a ratio of 1 to 2.
“You will never have 280 missiles a month, and between us, it’s a huge challenge—even to have 100 missiles a month. That’s what I want. I want to receive 100–120 during these difficult months, especially the cold ones,” Zelensky emphasized.
Against this backdrop, the Ukrainian president called on Kyiv’s allies to provide more support.
“They must provide as much as possible. With all due respect to them (the allies—Ed.), they must help Ukrainians to save their lives,” the Ukrainian leader explained.
Zelenskyy also announced the signing of agreements with several European companies to develop a Ukrainian missile defense system called Freya .
The Ukrainian president expects the first phase of testing to begin before the end of December. Zelenskyy reiterated that time is running out.
