In 2026, an extraordinary event occurred on the front lines in Ukraine that exposed the lies of the military command of the aggressor country, Russia, to the Kremlin dictator and war criminal Vladimir Putin.
According to The Telegraph, this refers to an operation to cut off the occupied “salient” above Lyman, during which the Defense Forces likely managed to regain control of nearly 200 square kilometers of territory.

Most interestingly, while the Ukrainian military was carrying out this operation, Vladimir Putin stated during one of his public speeches that the Russian army allegedly controls the city of Svyatogorsk.
“If Putin were right about this capture, it would serve as a crucial foothold for achieving his goal—to seize the entire Donbas. From Svyatogorsk, Russian troops could shell a key supply route to Slavyansk—a city that marks the northern boundary of the ‘fortress belt.’ They could also move back to complete the encirclement of Lyman, which Ukraine is desperately holding onto following the rout of Russian forces during the 2022 counteroffensive in the Kharkiv region,” the publication explained.
However, operational assessments by independent observers at the time indicated the opposite: the city was firmly held by Ukrainian units, which were advancing.
The statement was ultimately refuted a few days later. The commander of the 3rd Army Corps Andriy Biletsky published video in which he is seen walking through the streets of Svyatogorsk. The city was located a few miles from the front line and was relatively safe.
“Of course, Russian units and unit commanders understand that the Ukrainians are advancing, since they have to issue orders to launch strikes. But at some point, the reality on the ground changes as information moves up the chain of command, and the high command becomes increasingly detached from the reality on the ground,” Kastelhelmi emphasized.

The publication noted that fighting around Lyman is currently ongoing. The Ukrainian military is clearing out the “cauldron” of surrounded Russian occupiers after cutting off the “salient.”
