Poland Will Significantly Increase Its Security Spending

The Polish government will significantly increase spending on security. Finance and Economy Minister Andrzej Domanski made this announcement in the Sejm. According to him, the decision was made in light of the Kremlin’s recent actions: Russian drones struck trucks in the immediate vicinity of the Polish border and also damaged a train traveling from Kyiv to Warsaw, reports “Polish Radio”.

“Our government has decided to radically increase spending on security. This year and next, it will amount to 200 billion zlotys—nearly 5% of our GDP. I think this is extremely important, especially in light of recent events. I would also like to emphasize once again that we have decided to significantly increase funding for the Internal Security Agency and the Intelligence Agency,” Domanski stated.

According to the minister, a strong and resilient economy is necessary to finance the “security umbrella.” He assured that the foundation of the Polish economy remains solid, and the scale of the transformations of the past decades is recognized worldwide.
