Explosions rang out all night long in Sochi and other cities in southern Russia.

On the night of September 14, a series of explosions rocked Sochi and other cities in the Krasnodar Region amid reports of a threatened drone attack. Local residents reported that Russian air defense systems were active, according to Dialog.UA.

According to monitoring channels Exilenova+, Supernova+, and Russian media, the UAV threat was announced as early as the evening of September 13. Around 2:13 a.m., residents of central Sochi heard several loud explosions. At 3:51 a.m., Mayor Andrei Proshunin stated that the threat persists and that defense forces and resources have been deployed in the city.

Residents of Rostov also reported the explosions; there, monitoring channels noted the flight of groups of drones and the activation of air defense systems. The targets may have been an oil refinery, an oil depot, or logistics facilities in the Sochi area; however, there is no official confirmation of this information.

In addition, reports have emerged of a possible fire in the region following the aircraft’s arrival. Its cause and extent have not yet been confirmed. There is also information about a possible strike on the S-400 air defense system in Dagomys, but this information also requires confirmation.

Among other things, following the drone attack, Sochi Airport remains closed due to the restrictions that have been imposed.
