Lukashenko Met With His Special Envoy, Sheyman, Who Delivered A Report

It wasn't just about Africa.

On September 21, dictator Alexander Lukashenko received a briefing from his special envoy Viktor Sheiman.

Lukashenko was briefed “on the implementation of a number of projects related to the real sector of the economy and the development of new high-tech areas.”

Another key topic of the report was efforts to developing cooperation between Belarus and African countries. Lukashenko “confirmed a strong interest in further strengthening Belarus’s position in the promising markets of African countries, where a number of footholds have already been established,” the dictator’s press service reported.

“We will be looking even more closely at Africa in the near future. You know what Africa means for any country. All the more so for ours,” Lukashenko stated.

Viktor Sheiman is considered one of the main coordinators of Belarusian projects in Africa and Latin America. He previously served as Lukashenko’s chief of staff. He resigned in 2021. Lukashenko asked his former subordinate “not to go far” and to “take charge” of Cuba, Venezuela, and the “remaining projects” in Africa.
