The event at the poet's monument was opened by the presidential couple, Karol and Marta Nawrocki.

On Saturday, September 5, Poland will host the 15th annual “National Reading” event. It has been held under the patronage of the President of Poland since 2012.

This year, participants are reading Adam Mickiewicz’s “Dziady.” In Warsaw, the event was opened at the poet’s monument by the presidential couple, Karol and Marta Nawrocki, according to “Polish Radio”.

First Lady Marta Nawrocka spoke about the connection between this year’s work and the first “National Reading” event:
“This year, we are united by the poet-prophet Adam Mickiewicz. He looks down on us from this monument here, in the very heart of the Polish capital. And it was with his work that it all began. In 2012, the work featured in the first National Reading campaign was *Pan Tadeusz*. Today, for the fifteenth time, we turn to the work *Dziady*.

Polish President Karol Nawrotsky noted that literature was important for Poland and the entire world even in times when the country was not on the map of Europe.

The event, which took place in the center of the Polish capital near the monument to Adam Mickiewicz, was also attended by Belarusian actors Alexei Saprykin and Bozhena Shamovich.
