A Belarusian woman said that her father, a rescue worker, was beaten at work, and the Investigative Committee surprised her with its decision.

Threads user Natalia recounted how her father, who worked as a lifeguard this summer, was attacked and beaten by vacationers, according to "Zerkalo".

According to his daughter, he reported the incident to the police and a criminal case was even opened, but in the end, the matter was swept under the rug. “I didn’t want to make this public, but apparently, I have no other choice,” Natalia laments.

According to Natalia, her father worked as a lifeguard at a lake beach where “there is a designated swimming area and an area where swimming is prohibited,” as indicated by a sign.

— In July (actually in June—Ed.), vacationers beat up my father for asking them to get out of the water where swimming is prohibited and for filming the violation on his cell phone. Earlier, the local police department had told [my father] to record video so he would have evidence just in case,” explains Natalia. — The result: a man and his mother beat my father, scratched him, tore his clothes, and pushed him—along with his phone—into the water when they couldn’t wrest [it] from his hands, and fled without waiting for the police.

According to the author of the Threads post, this behavior was due to the fact that the man and woman “had been drinking.” But the lifeguard did not let them get away with it and “filed a complaint, which was reclassified from an administrative offense to a criminal one”.

— And then ROSK (the district department of the Investigative Committee—Ed.) closed the case, blaming the father, claiming he had fallen on his own and injured himself, and issuing an administrative citation to the attackers. “I have a feeling there’s a reason why everything was suddenly swept under the rug,” Natalia reasons.

According to Natalia, no one looked for witnesses, and as for the video, “it turns out you can’t see or make out anything.”

“Of course [you can’t see anything]—they attacked him right away!” Natalia writes heatedly. “You might not be able to see everything in the video, but you can clearly hear what’s happening.” I won’t post it online yet, since their faces are visible, and that would be a punishable offense for me (according to the “Law on the Protection of Personal Data,” adopted in 2021. — Ed.). The attackers themselves did nothing; they didn’t hear anything, didn’t understand, and were just passing by.

In an attempt to seek justice, Natalia’s father, as she explains, appealed to the district prosecutor’s office. They helped reopen the criminal case. It would seem that Natalia’s family had achieved their goal. But no.

“Now the investigator is the same one who had already closed the case, siding with the attackers!” During a conversation with her father, he tried to pressure him emotionally, saying that the attackers had already been punished and that her father was probably just looking for compensation. “There was absolutely no mention of that,” Natalia emphasizes. — Is it even possible to achieve any kind of justice? What can be done in this situation?

The family is currently looking for witnesses to the incident and for those who can provide legal assistance. As Natalia explains, the incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. on June 29, 2026, at a lake near the city park in Pruzhany.
