A Record Surge In The Number Of Undocumented Immigrants Has Been Recorded At The Belarus-Poland Border

Over the past few days, Polish border guards have recorded more than 50 attempts to cross the border illegally from Belarus. This is the highest number recorded in such a short period since the beginning of 2026.

All attempts were recorded in the section patrolled by the border outpost in Narewka in the Podlaskie Voivodeship.

Most of the foreigners retreated deeper into Belarusian territory upon the arrival of Polish border guards. Those who managed to reach the Polish side were detained.

By comparison, on July 10–12, Polish border guards recorded 37 attempts to cross the border illegally, and from August 7 to 12—more than 40. Thus, the current surge has been the largest in several days since the beginning of the year.

In total, since the beginning of 2026, more than 410 attempts to illegally enter the country from Belarus have been recorded in the area under the jurisdiction of the Podlasie Division of the Polish Border Guard.

The Border Guard emphasizes that all attempts to illegally cross the Polish-Belarusian border recorded this year have been thwarted.
