Lukashenka demands West to recognize electoral farce as “democratic elections”

Alyaksandr Lukashenka has threatened to the West to give up on the dialogue in case “the parliamentary elections” won’t be recognized.

“If the election will turn to be “undemocratic” again, we will stop any talks with them,” A. Lukashenka stated in Saturday, answering questions of “Interfax-Zapad” agency.

The Belarusian ruler underlined that the “election campaign” is carried out in full conformity with international law line with the Constitution and laws of the country. Moreover, as noted by A. Lukashenka, “we are violating laws totally, and are carrying out the elections in conformity with the understanding of the West and the OSCE”.

“Let’s see how they would react,” he said. “This is an unprecedented election according to the rules of the West”, he emphasized.

Speaking about a possibility of being elected to the Belarusian “parliament” of Belarusian opposition representatives, A. Lukashenka said that “I won’t lead oppositionists into the parliament by the hand”.

“How could people vote for him [oppositionist], when he is constantly coming down hard on the regime?” Lukashenka noted. He added that “our opposition is at the level of arithmetical error”.

The Belarusian ruler stated that “We do not need bawlers in the parliament, we need constructive people”.

Speaking about the Belarusian opposition, Lukashenka stated that “all of them are unemployed”. “How could he [an oppositionist] win, how people could vote for an unemployed?” he noted.

Commenting on the course of the “electoral campaign”, Lukashenka stated that “this election has been organized in a way it has never been”. “Thank God that the election is going on peacefully. It shows that our society is healthy, and people trust this regime,” he stated.

We would like to note that the Political Council of the United Democratic Forces has made a resolution that the current “parliamentary election” in Belarus is not free and democratic, and has called the world community not to recognize its results.
