The dictator said the “foreign policy factors can have negative impact on the situation in the country”.

“We should underestimate the foreign policy factors, as we have done several times. They can have negative impacts on the situation in Belarus,” Alyaksandr Lukashenka said at a solemn meeting on the 15th anniversary of the President’s Security service on Thursday.

“Now, these are consequences of the global economic crises in the United States and other big countries. Some people in our country and abroad try to benefit from the troubles, set people against the current authorities, sow the seeds of strife and havoc in society,” Lukashenka said.

In this respect he emphasized: “the appropriate governmental bodies should know how to supress criminal, offer effective and proper rebuff to any extremist activity threatening peace and well-being of people.” Lukashenka added: “It concerns not only certain agencies and their staff, but the whole security bloc, which can’t relax.”

Lukashenka noted that the most serious external threat is spreading of international terrorism that knows no geographical boundaries, political systems and moral norms. “A peculiarity of the modern terrorism is slaughter. Pursuing the aims of elimination of some officials, terrorists descent to organize and carry out their actions in crowded places,” Lukashenka said.

“Belarus is not an exemption,” he regretted. “Organizers and executors of the awful crime against the people of Belarus committed on July 3 last year (the bomb explosion on the official Independence Day) haven’t been found so far,” Lukashenka noted.

As he said, “the Security Service should pay close attention to effective operative and technical organizing of the events attended by the president and other guarded persons.” “Searching explosive devices and bugging equipment is an extremely important aim that needs constant enrichment experience and skills of the staff,” the head of state said. According to him, “their efforts should be aimed at preventing any attempts on guarded persons”. “Success can only be secured if the officers can detect signs of an imminent crime in time,” Lukashenka said.

He also noted that increasing the quality of field work and information analysis should become one of the priorities of the Security Service. ”You shouldn’t act blindfold, but should prevent negative facts by means of accurate and right actions,” he said.
