Counterintelligence got interested in political soldier Andrei Tsyanyuta

A “Young Front” activist, unlawfully drafted into the army, has been serving for a week in a Vitsebsk brigade of mobile troops.

According to Radio Svaboda, co-chairman of the BCD party Paval Sevyarynets visited political soldier Andrei Tsyanyuta at his new duty station.

“There’s information that counterintelligence has requested for Andrei Tsyanyuta’s personnel record,” Sevyarynets says.

According to the Belarusian politician, Tsyanyuta is under tight control of military ideological officers at the new station.

“Tsyanyuta feels good at the new station, he trains a lot. He trains as a grenade launcher operator. The Belarusian language doesn’t create problems for him, he has normal relations with other soldiers. The only thing is that he is under tight control of military ideology officers,” Paval Sevyarynets told.

Andrei Tsyanyuta was transferred from a military unit in Polatsk to a Vitsebsk mobile troops brigade. According to the political soldier, the command did it in order new minister of defense Yury Zhadobin, who visited Polatsk, couldn’t see him.

We remind that Tsyanyuta was found unfit for military service because of 2 degree scoliosis and flatfoot. However, the military enlistment office sent the young activist to a new medical examination, and in early September regional clinical hospital stated he had lower degree of scoliosis.

Andrei Tsyanyuta was sentenced to fines and administrative arrests for his political activities many times. In May 2009 together with other young activists he was on hunger strike of solidarity with political prisoners Mikalai Autukhovich, Yury Lyavonau and Uladzimir Asipenka.

It should be noted that since 2008 a so-called political drafting campaign has started against young activists in Belarus. “Young Front” activists Zmitser Khvedaruk, Ivan Shyla, Yauhen Skrabets and Andrei Tsyanyuta, “BPF Youth” activists Zmitser Zhaleznichenka and Franak Vyachorka were drafted illegally.
