Belarusian court renounces authority of UN

The court of Leninski district refused to consider an appeal against the Foreign Ministry, that ignores the decision of the UN on resuming activities of the public association “Civil Initiatives”.

Judge of Leninski district of Minsk T. Zhulkouskaya refused to initiate a case basing on the appeal of Viktar Karnyaenka against Foreign Ministry. The matter concerns resuming work of Homel regional public association “Civil Initiatives” pursuant to the decision of the UN Human Rights Committee, milinkevich.org informs.

The Foreign Ministry, which is obliged to follow implementation of international agreements by Belarus, was to answer in the court why the organisation is still banned.

However, the court decided to “help” the Ministry.

“The decision of Homel regional court of June 17, 2003 liquidated Homel regional branch of the public association “Civil Initiatives”, and consequently, the appeal on behalf of Homel regional public association “Civil Initiatives” has been filed by a person which hadn’t authority to act on behalf of the pubic association,” the decision of the court reads.
