Visitors of National Library locked inside due to Turkmenbashi’s visit

48

People had to wait for 1.5 hours until Lukashenka and Berdymukhamedov finished their lunch.

The library guards blocked all exits explaining there was a governmental delegation in the building, “Salidarnast” writes.

“I was indignant,” a locked visitor said. “Guards blocked the exit and said we couldn’t go out until the governmental delegation left the building. To a question how much it could take they answered we would have to wait until 3 p.m. It was not even noon at that moment. Fortunately, everyone could leave the library 1.5 hours later. But the incident really frayed nerves. I jumped there for a second to copy an article, but as a result I was late for work.”

The visitors leaving the building had to go through a metal detector.

We remind that the Turkmenian delegation headed by president Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov is paying a visit to Belarus these days. On January 26, the Turkmenian ruler visited the National Library. The Turkmenistan head ”had an excursion through the library, saw the reading rooms and the rare books museum,” BelTA reports.

At the end of the excursion, Alyaksandr Lukashenka joined his Turkmen counterpart at the library to have a working dinner.

The visitors were waiting patiently for a possibility to leave the library while Lukashenka and Berdymukhamedov were having dinner.
