Belarusian regime values friendship with Syria

Official Minsk regards Syria as one of the privileged political and trading partners in the Middle East.
This was said today by deputy foreign minister of Belarus Syarhei Aleinik at a festive ceremony on occasion of the national holiday of the Syrian Arab Republic – the Evacuation Day, BelTA reports.
“We highly value the spirit of friendship and mutual understanding between our countries. We are satisfied with the high level of political dialogue and interested in its further expansion,” Syarhei Aleinik said. According to him, Belarus pays special attention to the extension of mutually beneficial trade and economic ties, which is very perspective.
The Belarusian deputy foreign minister thinks in 2009–2010 the countries took serious steps for the further expansion of bilateral cooperation. The visit of the Prime Minister of Syria to Belarus was followed by the visits of delegations led by the deputy minister of economy and trade, business delegations. The representatives of Syria were among the participants of the Belarusian Investment and Economic Forum. The Belarusian minister of economy, minister of sports and tourism, and chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly paid visits to Syria.
The fifth session of the joint Belarusian-Syrian commission for trade, economic and technical cooperation held in Damascus in 2009 gave a significant impetus to the bilateral cooperation.
