Uladzimir Baradach: They can enter oppositionist’s home, kill him under law and that’s that

A secret services officer, colonel Uladzimir Baradach, comments on scandalous amendments to the law “On state security bodies of the Republic of Belarus”.

The colonel turned attention to amendments to article 16:

“A prosecutor shall be immediately informed about injuring or death of a person caused by using physical force, special devices, combat or special equipment or caused by using weapons by a body of state security.

An officer of the state security bodies shall not be responsible for the damage inflicted by using physical force, special devices, combat or special equipment, using (applying) of weapons provided for by the acting Law and other legislative acts if he acts under conditions of professional risk…”

“A security officer enters any home, kills the half asleep owner, who did not hear the command ‘Lay down’, and gets an award. The security services have easier conditions to work now. They don’t need to plan operations to kidnap politicians, take them to a wood… They just enter oppositionist’s home, kill him under the law, and that’s that,” Baradzin said in an interview to “Belorusski Partizan”.

After the West stopped financing the controlled by the KGB organizations, financing NGOs has become illegal and liable to criminal punishment. If patriots get money, it will shatter the power. The authorities are keeping a close eye on the key players able to influence their might.

The law restricts severely holding mass events and touches on absurd (no gatherings in groups more than three).

The law also makes unregistered organizations, which registration is not possible, go underground.

They authorities should also to adopt a law on sabotage at work giving a worker the right to labour and possible payment to exclude an opportunity of strikes and demonstrations of workers.

Lukashenka failed to live under the Constitution, though he early amended it as he wanted. Today, he strengthens his regime with draconian laws, but even they are not enough for the dictatorship to survive in rapidly changing conditions. The existence of the regime depends on economy, sponsors and grants.
