”The powers have performed a political massacre of innocent people.
Someone was not proven guilty at all; someone’s guilt is very-very questionable. One thing is clear: the regime is agonizing,” Ales Belatsky, the chairperson of the human rights center “Viasna”, commented on the sentences of Aleksandr Otroschenkov, the press-secretary of president candidate Andrei Sannikov, - 4 years of restricted regime imprisonment, Dmitry Novik – 3.5 years, and Aleksandr Molchanov – 3 years.
The attorney demaded 5 years of imprisonment for all the defendants.
“Obviously the prosecution is not independent in its decision. It is highly probable that it is working in a tight connection with the executive powers. The forecasts are negative. If the prosecution demands 5 years for ordinary participants, what will the organizers face? It can be from 8 to 15 years,” Ales Belatsky emphasized.
