Martin Schulz elected new EP president

A German social democrat replaced Poland’s Jerzy Buzek as the EP head.

Schulz plans to use his position to seek more European integration and more political power to help tackle the financial crisis, Gazeta.ru reports.

Schulz was elected by secret ballot having won 387 of 670 votes. He was election in the first round.
