Belarus wants to host Track Cycling World Championship in 2013

The Management Committee of the International Cycling Union (UCI) had a meeting in Switzerland on January 27.

The Committee met to decide which country would host the 2013 Track Cycling World Championship. The hosting right was awarded to Belarus.

“The Committee praised the work done by Belarus during preparation for the championship and readiness of Belarus and its capital to host such an important sporting event,” the Belarusian Federation of Cycling Sport says.

According to Telegraf news agency, the 2014 World Ice Hockey Championship is expected to be held in Belarus. The Belarusian opposition calls on national ice hockey federations of other countries to boycott the 2014 world championship in Minsk if opposition members are not released from prisons by this time.
