British Journalist Beaten On Freedom Day Now Banned From Entering Belarus

Philip Warwick became famous for covering the action on March 25 in Minsk.

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry informed the British Embassy in Minsk that British citizen Philip Warwick had been banned from entering Belarus for three years, Radio Liberty reports.

Philip Warwick covered the events in Minsk on March 25. During the rally near the Victory Square, he was detained along with many protesters in the course of the dispersal.

Later, he wrote that the riot police had handcuffed him, not allowed to contact the embassy, and beaten him in the face. For more than 6 hours Warwick was held in the police department, after which he was released.

Philip Warwick is a photographer and radio journalist, works for the English service of the International French Radio, the radio station Deutsche Welle and other media.
