Uladzimir Nyaklyayew: Our Victory Is Inevitable

All our activities should aim at training people for the moment "X".

The poet and politician, presidential candidate in 2010 Uladzimir Nyaklyayew stated it in an interview to Radio Svaboda:

- First of all, the revolution has happened. A revolution is not necessarily a change of power. There was a revolution in the minds and souls of people. People who are the force ready to bring the revolution to the end.

Of course, one can expect economic collapse if the authorities don't have the money to pay salaries. When this moment comes, then it will be easier to bring people to the streets. How long do we have to wait for this moment?

I think we should not wait for anything. We need to prove through independent media and the Internet that we are getting ready for the moment "X". All of our activities should aim at encouraging people.

- If the second wave of protests begins, people will take to the streets. After the experience of August and September, many of them will say, "We will no longer just walk up and down the streets with flowers". Do you think such a change in the minds of protesters may happen?

- It is possible. I can see it now. I believe that we should not be frightened by what Lukashenka says. He does not have much strength. If we protest with that number of people, as it was on August 16, there will be no bloody steps on the part of the authorities. Moreover, we should not be afraid of the army's involvement. Indeed, all these events since August 9 have affected everyone. There is no power to defeat the people's power.

When I was in Sweden, I wrote Jahaila. I wrote it because I could see clear parallels with the events of 500 years ago. There is a ruler who is thirsty for power. To satisfy it, he begins to trade the interests of the country. In the end, the people treated like dust earlier, remained a people. Now they feel like a nation.

The prospect of our victory is clear. History is the best proof. I do believe I will witness it.
