The icy and snow-covered wires could not withstand the snow's weight and falling branches and trees and broke off, which caused the power lines to shut down in the distribution network.

A total of 1,400 people and 450 pieces of equipment were involved in the restoration and repair work. Reserve power sources are used to ensure energy supply to social facilities and settlements.

Today, as of 6:00 on January 27, work is underway to eliminate violations in 402 settlements.

Fallen trees, jammed cars, train delays

The Ministry of Emergency Situations also spoke about the consequences of "Lars." According to operational information, 80 cases of tree falling were recorded, as a result of which 11 cars were damaged (in Hrodna region - 56 cases, 9 cars; in Brest region - 18 cases, 2 cars; in Homel and Minsk - 3 cases each). Fortunately, no one was hurt.

In addition, rescuers had to pull 75 cars out of snowdrifts (in the Hrodna region - 35 cars, in the Brest region - 22, in the Minsk region - 16, in the Homel and Mahileu regions - 1 car each).

According to the Belarusian Railway information, due to the sticking of wet snow on the turnouts, there was a delay in the movement of 13 trains (up to 50 minutes).

Due to rain and heavy snow melting, 15 houses in Asipovichy and the Mahileu region were also flooded.
