About 450 Belarusians Cannot Fly from Cyprus: They Are Being Evicted from Hotels

The authorities did not take care of their return to the country.

Cyprus joined other EU countries and closed its airspace for Belavia aircraft. Many Belarusian tourists vacationing on the island got stuck there.

One of them told nn.by that an evacuation flight from Larnaca to Moscow was scheduled for June 2, but, at the last moment, it was canceled without explanation.

According to some reports, the flight was to be operated by the Russian company Yakutia. The tourists were supposed to be transported to the Vnukovo airport in the Russian capital and from there to Belarus.

On June 2, virtually all Belarusian tourists who had already run out of vouchers were evicted from their hotels. Now they need to look for housing on their own or alternative ways of returning to Belarus.

"There are about 450 Belarusians here in total," said one of the tourists. "Many are at a loss because they need to get to work, and their money reserves are already running out."

The press service of Belavia said that they have no information about the situation at the moment.
