Without sufficient logistical and combat support, the Russian Federation cannot achieve a significant breakthrough.

Ukraine's defence of Mariupol has exhausted many Russian units and reduced their combat effectiveness, says the British intelligence service. The decision to lay siege to Azovstal instead of attacking means it is impossible to redeploy Russian units, many of which remain entrenched in Mariupol.

The British Ministry of Defence also reports that Russia has made little progress after focusing on the full occupation of Donbass. Without sufficient logistical and combat support, the Russian Federation cannot achieve a significant breakthrough.

As for the scale of Russian losses, the British intelligence believes that the aggressor state is trying to conceal them. This is evidenced by the fact that the Russian Defence Ministry has proposed to have the military, rather than civilian officials, control the compensation payments to the families of the dead soldiers.
