The US President delivered an address on the war in Ukraine and Israel.
President of the United States of America Joe Biden issued a statement of solidarity with the peoples of Ukraine and Israel. He compared Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and the Hamas terrorists, and also said that he had already sent a request to the Congress for additional unprecedented assistance to Ukraine and Israel.
The head of the White House emphasized that the world is now at a transitional page in history, and explained to the Americans why it is necessary to support Ukraine and Israel. The broadcast of the speech was published by the Voice of America on Youtube.
“Hamas and Putin represent different threats, but they share this in common: They both want to completely annihilate a neighboring democracy, completely annihilate it. Hamas’ stated purpose of existence is the total destruction of the state of Israel, the murder of the Jewish people. Meanwhile, Putin denies that Ukraine has or ever had real statehood. He claims that the Soviet Union created Ukraine,” Biden said.
Biden also said that on October 20 he would be submitting an “urgent budget request” for supplemental funding for Israel and Ukraine. “It’s a smart investment that’s gonna pay dividends for American security for generations,” Biden added.
“I will ask Congress to continue sending weapons to Ukraine so that Ukraine can stop Putin’s brutality,” he added.
The President explained to the American people why it is so important for the country to help Ukraine and Israel.
“History has taught us when terrorists don’t pay a price for their terror, when dictators don’t pay a price for their aggression, they cause more chaos and death and more destruction,” Biden said. “They keep going. And the cost and the threat to America and the world keep rising. If we don’t stop Putin’s appetite for power and control in Ukraine, he won’t limit himself just to Ukraine. Putin already threatened to “remind” Poland that their Western land were “a gift from Russia”. Russia’s former president has called Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania “Russia’s Baltic provinces”. These are all NATO allies,” Biden noted.
He added that if Putin is allowed to “erase Ukraine’s independence”, would-be aggressors around the world would be emboldened to try the same.
“We can’t let petty partisan, angry politics get in the way of our responsibilities as a great nation. We cannot and will not let terrorists like Hamas and tyrants like Putin win. I refuse to let that happen. In moments like these ... we have to remember who we are. We are the United States of America!” Biden underlines in his address to the American people.
The head of the White House added that Putin is failing in Ukraine, he has not succeeded and will never succeed in taking over the country. Ukrainian soldiers have already liberated more than half of the territories captured by the Russians since February 24, 2022.
“Ukrainians are succeeding. When Putin invaded Ukraine he thought he would take Kyiv and all of Ukraine in a matter of days. A year later, Putin has failed and continues to fail.
Kyiv still stands. Ukraine has regained over 50% of the territory that Russian troops once occupied,” the American leader underlined.
