US Activates THAAD Systems And Patriot Battalions In The Middle East

The US Secretary of Defense revealed the details.

The US is deploying additional troops and air defence systems throughout the Middle East in response to the escalation in the region.

The US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin made a statement at the Pentagon.

He said the Pentagon has activated the deployment of a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery as well as additional Patriot battalions to locations throughout the region.

Lloyd Austin added that the decision was made in response to "the recent escalation by Iran and its proxy forces" and to "assist in the defense of Israel."

“I have placed an additional number of forces on prepare-to-deploy orders as part of prudent contingency planning,” he added.
