Russian Journalist Who Tells Anti-Semitic Joke May Be Stripped Of Israeli Citizenship
LIZA LAZERSON

The network exploded with outrage.

"What do a wagon full of concrete, and a wagon full of little Jewish babies, dead, have in common? You can't unload the first one with a pitchfork." Russian journalist Liza Lazerson told this anecdote, calling it her favourite, live on the Live Nail channel. The broadcast was dedicated to raising funds to support the channel, which was set up under the leadership of media manager and radio presenter Aleksey Venediktov after the closure of the Echo of Moscow radio station in the Russian Federation. Some former Echo employees have moved to work there, and a new website for the project has been launched, detaly.co.il writes.

"Actual thing!" the speaker explained, addressing Venediktov, who was participating in the broadcast. The former Echo of Moscow head didn't even bat the eye, responding only that such a thing couldn't make him blush. However, soon after, when the network exploded with outrage at the anti-Semitic and hate speech, Venediktov announced his apology on the same channel.

"The anti-Semitic statements of a Lisa Lazerson cause nothing but disgust and should not go unanswered by those who give her the opportunity to broadcast to an audience of many millions on their platforms. And - yes. An apology is not enough here," responded Dmitry Gendelman, an adviser to Israel's prime minister. But for now, Lazerson is not facing punishment. Even when asked if he was going to cut out the scandalous fragment from the broadcast video (as if that would change anything), Venediktov said: "We have to wait to see what Lisa has to say, I remind you that she is Jewish and a mother of two children. Before we talk about anything, we should give her the floor and listen to her. Publicly." When asked why he did not immediately react properly, Venediktov replied, "Nothing justifies my reaction, but I thought I had misheard." Although, we remind you, he replied on air that such a thing could not possibly make him blush.

"With regard to any Israeli citizen who resides outside the country, has a second citizenship and conducts anti-Israeli, anti-Jewish activities and activities aimed at inciting hatred against Jews, it is possible and necessary to initiate the process of cancellation of citizenship," the law office of Alexei Zernopolsky informed. "In our opinion, Israeli citizen Lisa Lazerson has said enough in this video... Such statements to an audience of thousands are not just sensitive, Mrs Lazerson's statement devalues the lives of Israelis, specifically Jewish children. Our law office has filed a petition with the Israeli Minister of Interior to revoke Mrs Lazerson's citizenship."
