Pashinyan Made A Harsh Statement About Russian Gas

Yerevan will look for an alternative.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that he does not consider Russian gas to be cheap and announced the country’s plans for energy diversification. In doing so, the head of the Armenian government has taken another step away from Moscow, according to newsarmenia.am.

According to him, when determining the final price of gas in Armenia, there is a significant difference between the price at the border and the price paid by the consumer. At the briefing, Pashinyan noted that, compared to other countries, Armenia has the highest price markups along the route from the border to the end consumer.

He also emphasized the need to diversify energy sources in order to reduce the country’s dependence on a single supplier. In addition, the politician promised to review prices on goods purchased by Russia if the cost of gas rises, thereby promising the Kremlin a tit-for-tat response.
