“This is bullshit,” said the Russian dictator.
The periodic change of governing elites in the West presents “a problem that makes it very difficult to work with them,” Russian President Putin said during a speech at the Valdai Forum.
“The country insists on something, they push through their actions at all costs — and tomorrow internal political changes occur, and with the same pressure and unceremoniousness, something completely different, sometimes the exact opposite, is pushed through,” he explained.
A “striking example,” according to Putin, is the US position on the Iranian nuclear program. “One Administration pushed through one decision, another came — everything was turned around, and everything went in the opposite direction. How to work in such conditions? Where are the landmarks? What to rely on? Where are the guarantees? <...> It’s just bullshit,” the president said.
Putin himself has been in power longer than any ruler in the Kremlin since Joseph Stalin, and after changing the Constitution in 2020, he will be able to run for two more terms and remain president until 2036.
In terms of length of rule, Putin has already surpassed Pinochet (17 years), Kim Jong Il (17 years), Benito Mussolini and Indonesian dictator Suharto (20 years).
If nominated for a fifth term, Putin will overtake Nicolae Ceausescu (24 years in power), Mao Zedong (27 years) and equal with the Dominican general Rafael Trujillo.
