Moscow Railways announced “interference by outsiders.”
In the Ryazan region of Russia, 19 carriages of a freight train were derailed, RIA Novosti reports.
The incident occurred on November 11 at 7.12 on the Rybnoye-Checkpoint section. The Moscow Railways emphasized that the cars derailed “as a result of interference by unauthorized persons in the operation of railway transport.”
The operator's assistant suffered minor injuries; a team of doctors was called to help him. Russian Railways emphasized that the incident will not affect the movement of passenger trains and there is no environmental threat.
One of the local Telegram communities wrote that before the gathering an explosion was heard and the railway track was damaged. At least seven carriages fell on their sides.
What exactly the freight train was transporting is not specified. Local media write that these were supposedly “fertilizers.”
To eliminate the consequences, recovery trains were sent to the site from the Rybnoye, Voskresensk and Ryazan stations.
“A headquarters has been created to coordinate actions to eliminate the consequences of the derailment,” added the press service of the Moscow Railways.
